What a beautiful day to be out on the water. We had fleecy clouds, a warm sun, no wind and a calm ocean. Add some congenial WSKers and its "fun in the sun".
Ten of us launched at the beach at Half Moon Bay Kayak. While Pedy and Mitch, both in shorter recreational kayaks, elected to do a fun, calm water in-harbor paddle, the rest of us headed out of the harbor together. It was the perfect day to aim for the black cliffs that the Ritz Carlton sits on top of. Going straight across the bay (and 3.5 miles from launch) we rounded the tall Green S1 buoy and took a snack break before heading back.
Since it was rounded 2-3 foot swells and clear as could be, the group was free to go back to the harbor opening as fast as they wanted, and Mike and Larry made excellent time and waited patiently for the rest of us to join up so that we could all enter the harbor as a group. We did stay alert to the active boat traffic. When the conditions are as peaceful as this the 6.8 miles in 2 hours and 45 minutes flew by.
We all met up at the landing and a handful of us stayed to have lunch together and just enjoy the great company and beautiful weather. A big thank you for a lot of fun and sharing such a fabulous day with me out on the bay.
