A Western Sea Kayakers membership provides:
- Access to the members-only Forum and calendar
- with trip reports full of adventure, wildlife, humor and lessons-learned
- areas to ask questions and gain perspectives on topics related to kayaking gear, skill development, navigation
- a classified section where members buy and sell kayaks, life jackets/personal flotation devices (PDFs), paddles and kayaking-related gear
- Opportunities to join a wide variety of sea kayaking trips posted by other members and trip leaders: and ranging from
- shorter, flat water ones
- wildlife viewing, including birds, sea otters, seals and sea lions
- longer coastal trips in dynamic waters and rock gardens
- an occasional surf zone play day
- Practice sessions covering rescues, capsizing, and paddle strokes
Membership in Western Sea Kayakers is for one-year, and there are two types of membership available:
- Individual member - $35.00/year dues
- Individual member with a minor child or minor children - $35.00/year dues
By way of example, a family with two adults and one minor child requires an 'individual membership' and an 'individual membership with a minor child'. Liability releases will be required for all three people.
New Member Signup steps include:
- choosing membership type
- acknowledging privacy agreement
- providing e-mail and contact information
- optionally, indicating your interests: flatwater, wildlife viewing, surf, dynamic water, and/or Greenland gear and skills
- signing an online liability release and then a joining agreement

- paying dues online
And then being given immediate access to the members-only section.
Your membership runs from the date you join until the same date the following year.
Dues cover the cost of:
- Operating the WSK website and membership management system
- WSK's liability insurance
- WSK's director and officer insurance for officers, coordinators and trip leaders
Renewing Members
You will be sent emails reminding you to renew starting 30 days before your membership expires. Clicking on the link in the renewal reminder email takes you directly to the renewal steps.
Renewal steps include:
- refreshing your annual online liability release ( Release of Liability Waiver )
- paying your annual dues (selecting the option to pay by credit card or mailing a check to WSK's post office box)
An alternative to clicking on the link in the renewal reminder email is to access the renewal steps from the WSK members-only site.
- Log-in to Western Sea Kayakers (if necessary, using self-help password recovery via email)
- Under 'Members', select drop down menu item 'Renewing Membership' and follow directions there.
